Program Description:

The MS and EdS in Reading are 30-credit programs and can be completed in 18 months. Both degree programs are open to certified and non-certified educators. Courses focus on evidence-based best practices for teaching and learning strategies. Students complete a practicum as well. The PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Reading, Language, and Cognition is designed for those who aspire to university teaching, policy, research, and curriculum development positions in reading and literacy fields. The 54-credit program includes coursework in curriculum and instruction, research, and reading, language, and cognition. Students complete a dissertation as well. Tuition discounts are available for educators.


All of the Barry University School of Education graduate programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The MS in Reading program is approved by the Florida Department of Education for Reading Certification. Graduates are eligible for state Reading Certification.
