Barry University's program is designed to prepare students for careers in the area of mental health. It stresses quality academic instruction, research experience, and clinical training at a range of mental health facilities. All classes are offered in the evening to accommodate working professionals. Graduates from Barry's 60-credit program meet the academic requirements for Florida state licensing as a mental health counselor for a variety of settings, including public or private mental health organizations, social service agencies, government and private research teams, and community colleges. Graduates from Barry's 36-credit program frequently pursue doctoral-level education in psychology.
