Program Description:

With its rigorous curriculum and supportive faculty, Barry University’s Masters in Biomedical Sciences program has a 30-year record of preparing students for acceptance into dental, medical (DO and MD), optometry, pharmacy, physician assistant, podiatry and veterinary schools. In fact, over the last five years, more than 70 percent of program graduates have matriculated directly to professional school. We welcome over 25 professional school Directors of Admissions, Deans or Directors of Diversity and Inclusion to campus each academic year.  Barry has gained a reputation for developing outstanding applicants based on our didactic offerings that include Gross Anatomy, Human Physiology, Histology and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Oral Pathology and more. Qualified students may be admitted on a one-year, 18-month or two-year track depending on the strength of their credentials.  Benefit from a close knit community, a highly trained faculty, and a multicultural student body.  Two large BMS student organizations assist with maintaining community service and shadowing hours while enhancing your academic foundation.

Barry University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Eligibility Requirements:

We strongly prefer a 3.0 cumulative and science GPA. We have pre-requisites of Biology I and II, Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I and II, and Physics I and II each with a C or higher. Each pre-requisite needs to indicate a lecture and lab. We suggest that students take the GRE, but we will also accept the MCAT, DAT, OAT, etc. for our testing requirement. Along with all prior transcripts, we require a personal statement, resume and two letters of recommendation preferably from science professors.

International Student Requirements:

A minimum score of 550 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), 213 on the computer-based TOEFL, or 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL
