Program Description:

The University of New Haven M.S. degree program in taxation is designed for accountants, attorneys, government employees, and executives seeking to gain advanced expertise in taxation law. Our graduates are among the most successful of UNH alumni, with most employed in high-level executive positions or as partners in local, regional, and/or international CPA firms. The Master of Science in Taxation at UNH attracts a wide range of accountants, executives, and government employees, but it's an even bigger draw for those hoping to become CPAs. Connecticut law requires CPA candidates to complete 150 academic credit hours of coursework in order to sit for the CPA exam. This program provides those hours. The program offers 31 credits of coursework covering topics like federal income taxation, corporate income tax, partnerships and limited liability corporations, tax writing, and more. Take advantage of all the M.S. Taxation program has to offer: -A cohort format, with each group of individuals starting the program at a particular time and taking classes together for 24 months -Small, informal classes held one evening each week, with additional Saturday classes scheduled intermittently -Class terms of 10 class meetings in a nine-week period -State-of-the-art teaching and research tools -A hiatus from January to April 15th to accommodate tax professionals -Many winter classes held online -Local and remote access to a full range of online research services, including CCH, RIA, BNA, and Lexis-Nexis Students in the Taxation program benefit from analyzing "real world" case studies regarding some of today's most influential businesses and accounting firms. The applied problem solving activities associated with these case studies lead to important student research projects that address some of the biggest challenges faced by accountants and tax professionals today. Our students further benefit in the classroom by learning from professionals active in the field with work experience that includes the IRS, major accounting firms, and more.
