Program Description:

The Urban Community Teacher Education program at CU Denver uniquely prepares you to obtain your teaching license and a master’s degree. We develop teacher leaders who have the ability, dispositions, and drive to create meaningful, dynamic and engaging learning environments that support the achievement of ALL students. You will "live the life of a teacher" as you quickly become a vital member of the teaching staff at one of our Denver metro area urban professional development schools as a teacher candidate intern while you simultaneously take university classes. Teacher candidates work and learn alongside expert practicing clinical teachers as they put into practice what they learn from their award-winning university faculty. Urban schools need teachers who are not just caring, competent and committed but who understand the importance of engaging with the broader community to create a web of support for their students. CU Denver has the reputation that their graduates enter their first year of teaching with the knowledge, skills, and confidence of 2nd and 3rd year teachers and are hired most often at their internship sites!
