The Master of Humanities and Master of Social Science (MHMSS) Program offers two unique interdisciplinary master degrees for students whose interests transcend the restrictions of traditional university disciplines: Master's of Humanities (MH) and a Master's of Social Science (MSS). The MHMSS program teaches students innovative, interdisciplinary thinking, with an emphasis on integrated critical and analytical learning. Graduates are prepared to enter the workforce with unique skills that make them excellent problem solvers, ready to tackle the complex problems of a global economy.
For 30 years now, the MHMSS program has provided the most unique interdisciplinary graduate curriculum in Colorado and the region. By bringing together the best graduate coursework offered at CU Denver, students craft a study plan that addresses their unique and multifaceted questions. With its location on CU Denver’s vibrant downtown campus, the MHMSS program fosters a culture of deep inquiry, community engagement, and learning

Financial Support: The MSS Program does not currently offer teaching assistantships, but many of our graduate students attain TAs in other CU Denver departments with teaching needs.

International Student Requirements:International students must meet ALL of the standard requirements and also must provide: • Original transcripts and documentation in English (or a certified English translation) of the completion of a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or the equivalent • Documents required to process immigration documents • Certified English translation of all academic records and references not in English • $75.00 international non-refundable application fee • Evidence of proficiency in English as demonstrated by one of the following: - Citizen of a country whose official language is English - TOEFL or IELTS - Graduate of CU Denver’s ESL Academy - Earned bachelor’s degree or higher from a foreign or US accredited institution where the language of instruction was English. - Earned a bachelor’s degree from the US or successful completion of at least 2 semesters (12 credits) of full-time study in a graduate-level master’s program at an accredited institution with a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA.
