Program Description:

UC San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy (GPS) offers five degree programs. UC San Diego students at the undergraduate level can enter the School as a gateway to international studies with a five-year bachelor’s-to-master’s degree program. At the graduate level, GPS offers a Master of International Affairs (MIA) and Master of Public Policy (MPP), as well as an executive Master of Advanced Studies in International Affairs designed for mid-career professionals and a Ph.D. in conjunction with the UC San Diego Department of Political Science.

The MIA is a two-year, full-time professional degree program specializing in business, politics, economics, development and environmental policy within the Pacific context. Students choose one track and a regional concentration: Latin America, China, Korea, Southeast Asia and Japan. The MIA core curriculum is designed to integrate the diverse areas of international affairs through a rigorous series of quantitative, policy and economics courses.

The MPP is a two-year, full-time professional degree program that examines policymaking in a global context. Students specialize in American politics and policy, energy and environmental policy, health policy, international business and regulation, program design and evaluation and security policy. The MPP core curriculum is designed to integrate the diverse areas of public policy through a rigorous series of quantitative, analytical and economics courses.

Located in San Diego, California, an emerging innovation hub at the crossroads of Asia and the Americas, GPS utilizes campus strengths in science and technology to create global policy recommendations on climate change, poverty and other pressing challenges.
