In a historic collaboration between Sotheby’s Institute of Art, The Getty Leadership Institute, and the School of Arts and Humanities at Claremont Graduate University, The Center for Management in the Creative Industries at CGU’s Drucker School of Management brings together core values and a unique philosophy about leadership and management in the arts. Convening key partners, distinguished faculty, and industry professionals, the CMCI provides management education and privileged access to students who aspire to success in the creative fields – as makers, producers and leaders. Graduates of the CMCI’s Master’s programs are well prepared to enter the creative industries workforce and to reshape it. From performing art centers to auction houses, from private museums to public art projects, CMCI graduates can be found in a wide array of creative organizations where they foster important work in art and culture for both public and private consumption. At the heart of the CMCI’s programs is the MA Arts Management and the MA in Art Business.
The Master’s Degree program in Art Business offered on our Los Angeles campus uniquely combines core courses from Claremont Graduate University’s Drucker School of Management with staples such as Art Law, International Art Markets, and Professional Practice from Sotheby’s Institute of Art. The degree is granted by Claremont Graduate University (CGU) in partnership with Sotheby’s Institute. To tailor the general Art Business degree, students may choose concentrations in one of three areas: East Asian Art, Latin American Art, or Contemporary Art, or they may select from a range of electives offered by both the Institute and CGU.
