Program Information

Degrees Offered:

Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology

Format: Hybrid

Program Description:

The Psy.D. program represents Pacifica's commitment to grounding the principles of depth psychology in clinical practice. The modern field of depth psychology originates in the work of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, who called attention to the importance of what lies "below the surface" of conscious awareness. The Psy.D. program is designed to produce exquisitely trained clinical psychologists who are skilled in a broad range of clinical work, including psychotherapy, assessment, supervision, and consultation, informed and enriched by psychodynamic perspectives. Pacifica trains students to achieve the powerful combination which results from combining core clinical skill sets and knowledge with primary, personal experience of the unconscious factors which motivate behavior. The Cohort System When students begin their studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute, they join a cohort of like-minded students who are also enrolling in that particular degree program. The majority of students remain with the same cohort throughout their academic journey. Pacifica has developed educational formats that are particularly well suited to individuals who wish to pursue graduate education while continuing their existing professional and personal commitments.
