Program Description:

The M.A. in Teaching is designed for individuals who wish to begin their teaching careers with both a teaching credential and a master's degree. The MAT program includes 12 additional credits beyond the core credential coursework, emphasizing linguistic and culturally responsive pedagogy. Students can complete the program on a part-time or full-time basis, with most students finishing over a period of 4-5 semesters. Students may choose between a Single Subject or Multiple Subject Credential. An emphasis in Music Education is also available.


Chapman University is accredited by and is a member of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The College of Educational Studies is nationally accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the University’s teacher training and credential programs.
