Master of Fine Arts

Program Description:

We are an intimate, innovative and interdisciplinary department with rich, one-of-a-kind offerings by award-winning faculty in several fields of practice. Our students write books and plays, and create performances, films, gallery shows, installations, and events.

Our programs are designed for artists and practitioners who:

  • want individual and small group support to write a book, produce a performance, or develop a large scale project in a rigorous, supportive setting.
  • are teachers or therapists who want to develop their own practice as artists, performers, or writers, and learn the tools for bringing these practices into their professional work.
  • are interested in creative resistance and working collaboratively with artists and communities.
  • make work that doesn't "fit" into traditional studio or conservatory programs because you work across two or more disciplines.
  • seek an intensive format designed for working adults.
  • want to create more meaningful lives through disciplined creative and self-inquiry in a community of makers.
  • are ready to utilize undergraduate credits from our Bachelor's Completion Program towards an MFA degree.
