Public Health and Health Promotion, MSc
M.Sc.-Public Health and Health Promotion
The course, previously called MSc Health Promotion, has recently been reviewed and revalidated in light of changes in the delivery of health promotion. Recent re-organisation of health promotion provision across the UK has resulted in a move away from a stand alone service into one that is offered in relation to public health. This revised course is designed to meet the needs of health promotion practitioners and the developing public health agenda.
Students will be encouraged to reflect on current practice, the historical background, current developments in health and innovation in health promotion practice. Relevant research will underpin the process of enhancing positive health and prevention of ill health in both theory and practice.
The practice component of the course enables those with a career change in mind the opportunity to experience health promotion in practice and to develop reflective skills. Many past students have gained professional progression because of the course, as well as the personal development gained from life-long learning. Many graduates have also commented on how very enjoyable they found the course.
