The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Primary) leads to the Teaching Qualification (Primary Education) which enables the holder to teach in any UK or EU primary school and is recognised and respected in many other parts of the world, in particular Canada. As well as the important task of educating children, the qualification can be a starting point for a defined career structure within primary education. The course covers all stages from Nursery to Primary 7 and is founded on the belief that the best place to learn to be a primary teacher is in the primary school. The course prepares students to teach the full range of the primary curriculum. It aims to meet the professional and individual needs of students through participative styles of learning, and to encourage studentsÆ personal development through self-help and enquiry skills.
