On this pathway, you will develop your skills in a learning environment that promotes the latest research thinking and professional practice. You will focus on specialist textile techniques and processes, which will prepare you for further research or practice, and draw on your creativity and practical knowledge. You will develop critical thinking skills, refine your textile design skills (including printed, knitted, woven and mixed media textiles) and undertake design research. You will also develop a critical understanding of your subject from different cultural and professional perspectives and benefit from the School's international and industrial links. Teaching and learning involves a variety of formats, including lectures, seminars, tutorials, and intensive workshops. The programme promotes interdisciplinary thinking and you will be encouraged to share your ideas with fellow art and design students. This programme is one of the MA Design pathways which require you to present a portfolio of work. You will be able to develop your thinking and skills in the following areas: research skills for textile design, contemporary issues, experimental practice, construction techniques and materials for printed, knitted or woven fabrics, CAD for Textile Design, textile design portfolio skills, marketing and branding, entrepreneurship.
