Program Information

Degrees Offered:

MSc Citizenship and Democracy

Format: Campus

Program Description:

Questions about what citizenship means and what democracy should look like are fundamental to the study of politics, and the way in which we answer those questions has a direct effect on policy, process and practice in the real world. This programme examines how theories and practices of citizenship and democracy are responding to challenges such as multiculturalism, mass migration, globalisation and the changing nature of the state. It explores our ideas about the meaning of citizenship and controversial issues associated with democratic functioning. This degree is ideal for those wishing to pursue research in this area, and for those seeking careers where knowledge of contemporary political issues is significant, such as in government, politics and academia.
