Program Description:

Taught within the internationally known research environment of the Southampton Archaeological Computing Research Group, in common with the MSc Archaeological Computing (Virtual Pasts), this course will provide instruction in a wide range of computing skills that are used within archaeology including multimedia technologies, databases, WWW and electronic publication. In addition, you will undertake intensive study in the theory, design and implementation of Geographic Information Systems for archaeology, field survey methodologies (including GPS), spatial data processing, and raster image processing. You will be introduced to a wide range of spatial analytical methods and current developments in spatial computation in archaeology.
