Program Description:

The purpose of this programme is to: • Develop your knowledge and your critical understanding of the developments that underpin eLearning and eTeaching • Enable you to work effectively with theoretical and research-based evidence to extend your knowledge and understanding and help you deepen your own personal perspective on the role of IT and ICT set within your professional context • Raise your awareness of and ability to utilise appropriate research methods in the analysis of eLearning and eTeaching • To enable you to exploit aspects of learning object design with regard to known design or evaluative models • Develop your understanding of the skills required in authoring and multimedia • Extend your understanding of the evaluation process • Develop skills in and gain additional insights in to the use of electronic media for teaching and training Structure & Assessment: This flexible programme allows you to negotiate an appropriate timeline for you to progress your studies satisfactorily, including assignment submission dates. The programme comprises of three separate units of study, each worth 20 M Level credits and each accounting for 200 hours of student effort. You will be able to communicate with your tutors via email and where possible, Messenger. Your tutors will set aside regular ‘office hours’ when they will address any questions and/or provide support, they will also regularly monitor peer discussions and facilitate specific tasks and learning activities. Each assignment is the equivalent of 4000 words. The Authoring assignment, for example, requires you to create a ‘product’, which might comprise, for example: • A web page with 4000 words (max) of text • A single web page with forms, .htaccess, JavaScript, PHP, XML and/or VBA with 1-3000 words • An on-line questionnaire of 20 questions with the data being recorded by the user • A website of an index page, several folders with indexes, other resources and hypertext links connect
