Program Description:

In the Environmental Management stream, emphasis is placed on the impact of decision on the external environment. Students are given a thorough understanding of all the different inputs to the environment, through studies of biology and ecosystems. Quality of wildlife characteristics and habitats are examined and various biological indicators are used to measure the environmental impact of various activities, for example, the effects of agricultural methods on areas of wildlife. The role of environmental assessments is examined in relation to the Environmental Protection Act and various mathematical modelling techniques are discussed. The course is run by the Centre for Environmental and Waste Management which draws on the wide ranging experience of staff from the University's Departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Physics, Biological Sciences and Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering as well as from specialistsfrom its partners within industry, commerce and the public sector.
