M.Sc. - Food Science, Postgraduate Research
It was one of the first UniversityDepartments in the United Kingdom to teach Food Science andto establish a research school, in the early 1960's. Staff of theDepartment have international reputations for their research infood science. They were recently awarded a 5*, the highestrating for excellence in research, by an independent assessmentof all university research in the United Kingdom. Much of thissuccess originates from the rigorous application of theprinciples of basic science to problems associated with food;staff are experts in specific areas of the basic science disciplinesof chemistry, biochemistry and physics, and are able to applytheir knowledge to food.
