Program Description:

The Master of Public Health (International) facilitates a ‘public health’ approach to health care. This ensures those involved in developing programmes and services to tackle the causes of common diseases have a public health perspective and look at the wider picture. The programme helps public health professionals understand the health needs of the whole population (not just the visible) in their areas, and how to effectively intervene to improve the health of their communities. The programme is designed for district and provincial medical officers, communicable disease controllers, and other reproductive and child health programme officers, health service managers, community nurses, health educationists and general medical practitioners. One of the key features of this programme is the opportunity to participate in a one-week field trip to Geneva, Switzerland. This includes workshops and meetings with World Health Organization staff, a visit to the United Nations and the Red Cross offices and various NGOs. The visit takes place in the University Easter vacation.
