The School of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers research degrees in the areas of biochemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, bioinformatics and molecular biology. The School has an outstanding reputation for research and teaching in medical and non-medical aspects of biochemistry and molecular biology. It provides a superbly equipped, dynamic and broad-based research environment, and was awarded a grade 5A in the 1996 HEFCE Research Assessment Exercise. It is part of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, and additionally houses the Centre for Plant Sciences and the Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology.
