Program Description:

If you’d like to immerse yourself in the Renaissance and gain hands-on experience working in one of Edinburgh’s leading museums, galleries of libraries, the MSc Renaissance and Early Modern Studies is for you.

From history and literature to the arts and science, you’ll study the Renaissance in all its facets.

We have a wealth of resources in Edinburgh which you’ll access – from paintings by Botticelli and Titian to early printed editions of Shakespeare, pioneering scientific texts, historic buildings, and archival documents.

You will join a truly international community as you learn from leading scholars in the field, take the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through our work placement programme and develop your research skills as you undertake your own dissertation project on a topic of original research.

By the time you graduate, you’ll be ready to progress to wide-range of careers. Many of our graduates advance to PhD research; others gain work in the cultural sector in museums, galleries and heritage organisations.
