Program Description:

The core courses of the programme introduce students to the practice of Comparative Literature and the most important approaches in literary criticism that have emerged over the last century and a number of specially designed option courses offer a detailed focus on literary themes, genres, and historical periods from a comparatist perspective.

The broader skills students will acquire during the programme are:
- critical skills to evaluate and compare texts and analytical approaches
- historical skills suitable to the analysis and understanding of literature and culture in a comparative context
- theoretical and methodological skills to structure and interrogate the information you acquire
- literary skills for the appreciation of literature and the expression of meaning
- discursive skills to enable you to express your views effectively in both oral and written forms
