This course is designed to prepare students to undertake higher research in musicology while studying a topic of their choice. Tutorials are held in research skills and techniques, in preparation for a dissertation built up from work completed during the course. This course is designed for composers intending to pursue composition to a professional level. Although applications from those who wish to pursue instrumental and vocal composition are welcome, we are particularly interested in composers who wish to specialise in electroacoustic music or in the combination of the two areas. Applicants will be required to submit scores and tapes as appropriate. The electroacoustic music course is suited both to those with some previous electroacoustic experience and to those with high levels of competence in related fields who seek professional training in the area.
