MSc Strategic Marketing
The MSc in Strategic Marketing, new for 2012, is designed for students from a range of backgrounds who are looking to develop their knowledge and skills in marketing from a strategic perspective.
The programme will provide you with the knowledge, technical skills and expertise to develop marketing strategies which deliver a competitive advantage through a clear customer focus. You will also develop an understanding of the full range of marketing tools and techniques available, and how to integrate them to plan and implement successful marketing programmes.
Suitable for students with or without prior experience of business, marketing or management subject areas, it is aimed at both recent graduates and those with a first degree and work experience. The programme delivers many opportunities to gain practical skills in marketing and strategic marketing through the use of module assignments, case studies, industry speakers and consulting projects.
In Semester 1, you will study six core modules, introducing the fundamentals of marketing, strategic marketing and management. These will include Consumer Behaviour, Market Research, Marketing Communications, Marketing Planning & Strategy, International Business Environment, and Sustainable Operations Management.
In Semester 2, you will develop more specialist knowledge through a mix of core modules (Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and two further elective modules of your choice. You will also start to put your learning into practice with a Marketing Strategy Simulation module, developing strategies for a company in a competitive computer simulated business environment.
In the final part of the MSc Strategic Marketing programme you will be taught the tools and techniques of research and introduced to project management skills before undertaking either a personal research project assessed by dissertation (22,000 words) or a group based consulting project assessed by a group report.

All our Management MSc programmes are among the relatively small number of programmes to have received pre=-experience master's in general management (PEMM) accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA).
International Student Requirements:
If we need evidence of your proficiency in English, you will be required to achieve a minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS test (with no sub-text less than 5.5), or a score of 94 in the internet-based TOEFL (with minimum scores of Reading 18, Listening 17, Speaking 20, Writing 17), or 60 in the PTE-A (Pearson Test of English-Academic).
