The course is designed to meet a significant need for skilled electronic commerce technologists, by preparing IT specialists for the next 5-10 years of growth in e-business. The IT industry has identified a critical shortage of e-commerce specialists who are familiar not only with existing technologies, but also the leading edge. To meet this significant need, the course covers state-of-the-art technologies and related issues in e-business, and also aims to look beyond the immediate horizon to new developments and next-generation techniques. In doing this, we draw upon our research strengths in areas such as customer profiling, electronic marketplaces, intelligent user interfaces, and knowledge asset management. A significant portion of the course covers the business context for e-commerce technologies, including case studies and seminars by visiting experts in e-business.
