MScEcon Social Research
This course, which has been granted RT (Research Training) status by the Economic and Social Research Council, provides advanced training in the range of research methods used in the social sciences.
Students taking this Masters scheme with a view to future research or employment in fields related to politics and international relations may undertake both an option module and the dissertation module with the Department of Politics and International Relations.
We welcome students from a range of backgrounds, with a range of qualifications, and from all over the world. In general you will have a good undergraduate degree in Politics, International Relations or a cognate subject. But we will consider your application on the basis of your merits and your commitment to postgraduate study.
PhD applicants are normally required to have completed a Masters course which has included research training appropriate for the proposed thesis project. The Department will provide training as necessary for research students in their probationary year.
Part-time students are fully encouraged to study with us.
