European Languages at Swansea incorporates the academic areas of French, German, Hispanic Studies, Italian, Russian and Welsh, together with the Centre for Applied Language Studies, all of which were rated at 4 or 5 in the last Research Assessment Exercise, while German, Hispanic Studies and Italian were graded ‘Excellent’ in the most recent national teaching quality assessment.

A postgraduate degree is usually either a taught degree in which seminar involvement governs study or a research degree in which a research project develops an original contribution to learning. It involves systematic study and requires students to relate the results of their study to the general body of knowledge in the subject. Postgraduate courses at Swansea are supported by the Postgraduate Research Faculty Office and by the individual departments or Schools.
