PgDip Legal Practice (LPC)
Our full-time LPC will take you through the required subjects and skills. You will learn about the ethical basis, legal knowledge and financial skills you will use in practice when evaluating legal problems and when advising your clients. You will draw on your knowledge from different subject areas to consider all possible effective solutions; we will teach you how to implement those solutions to the best practical effect.
The LPC is divided into two sections: stages 1 and 2.
Stage 1 consists of the core areas of legal practice and development of practical skills. Aspects of professional practice will also feature on a pervasive basis, to include Professional Conduct and Regulation, Wills and Administration of Estates, Solicitors' Accounts and Taxation. This section includes practical skills of advocacy, drafting, interviewing and advising, legal writing and practical legal research.
Stage 2 will develop your specialist knowledge of three electives from the following range: Commercial Law and Practice; Commercial Leases; Employment Law; Family Law; Housing and Welfare Benefits Law; Insurance Law and Practice; Private Acquisitions; and Private Client.
Business Law and Practice, Litigation (Civil and Criminal), and Property Law and Practice. In addition, aspects of professional practice and skills as are required by the SRA.
Up to three subjects chosen from a comprehensive range of electives. This stage of the LPC is designed to develop your skills and understanding in a range of specialist areas of legal practice.
