Program Description:

This programme aims to provide you with substantial theoretical knowledge to develop an interest in the field of translating and/or interpreting as a topic of academic study and research.
This programme concentrates on translation and interpretation as an academic subject using English and either Chinese or Japanese. The programme includes compulsory modules (60 credits), optional modules (60 credits) and either a dissertation on a theoretical aspect of translating/interpreting or a translating/interpreting project (60 credits).

Compulsory modules include: advanced Chinese or Japanese for translators and interpreters or advanced English for translators and interpreters; translating; translation studies; research methods in translating and interpreting; professional issues in translating and interpreting. You take 60 credits of optional modules from across an extensive range of disciplines.

Assessment is by examination, practical assessments, class/seminar presentations, essays or assignments and other submitted work (including a dissertation or project).
