You normally undertake a year of professional planning experience, followed by a period of study taking modules to a total value of 120 credits. The programme is designed to give you opportunities to concentrate on selected areas of planning expertise through a portfolio of individual and group study, research and inputs from planning practice.
Two major elements are the linked research project, with options associated with particular areas of staff research, and the consultancy project in which teams of students undertake a real planning brief for a local client in the public, private or voluntary sectors. An alternative is the European research project, which involves an exchange visit to a partner university in another European country.
