System Design for Internet Applications
This programme aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge to design, build and extend the Internet infrastructure and to design a variety of distributed applications in the fields of scientific computing, electronic retailing, home banking, and information and service brokerage, to name just a few.You take taught modules (75 credits), a group project (15 credits) and an individual project (90 credits). The taught modules are: Internet programming; information management; system security; enterprise distributed computing; system design; system validation; distributed algorithms; recent developments in the Internet and Web.The focus of the six-month individual project is normally a system design and implementation project for networked computing. Opportunities exist for undertaking your project with industry, and our students have completed projects for a number of well-known IT companies (eg BT, Hewlett Packard, SAGE, Prism Technologies).
