The programme is targeted at professionals concerned with educational leadership and management in the primary and secondary school sectors, including school leaders, administrators, consultants and (local) government officials. Distinctive features of the programme are its international dimension, aimed at fostering a greater understanding of the comparative context of educational organisations, and its case-based, practical focus, which provides participants with a strong basis for enhancing their effectiveness as educational leaders.For the MPA you take three core modules (60 credits) in: developing and carrying out a research study; leadership and strategic direction; management of change in education. You then take three optional modules (60 credits) from: middle management in education; human resource management in education; policy, planning and school effectiveness; and emotional intelligence and leadership. You also complete a dissertation or an equivalent research-based portfolio (60 credits). For the Postgraduate Diploma you complete the same taught modules (120 credits), but do not undertake a dissertation. For the Postgraduate Certificate you undertake the three core modules (60 credits only).Teaching is via lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials and interactive activities. The majority of modules are assessed by written assignments.
