International Politics (Critical Geopolitics)
Critical geopolitics is an interdisciplinary degree programme featuring distinctive contributions from critical international politics and human geography. It focuses on the key theories, approaches and thinkers in the study of geopolitics. You learn about the political dynamics, consequences and discourses of contemporary geopolitics and how to think critically about these important political currents.
You take compulsory modules (40 credits) in:
critical geopolitics; and theories and approaches in the study of politics - power and democracy. You also choose optional modules (80 credits) from: democracy in divided societies; global justice and human rights; globalization, poverty and development; transitional justice; Africa - the politics of international development; philosophies in human geography; human geography - concepts in action.
You also write a dissertation (60 credits) which focuses on a topic or issue in critical geopolitics.
