Program Description:

By the end of this module students should be able to: demonstrate understanding of Design and Technology: its place in the National Curriculum and its contribution to the wider curriculum; operate safely the machinery found in school workshops to manipulate wood, metal and plastics materials; select appropriate content to ensure continuity and progression in schemes of work; produce coherent lesson plans; employ effectively a variety of teaching strategies with appropriate use of resources; communicate effectively; demonstrate ability to interest and motivate pupils; monitor, assess and record pupil progress; use knowledge of pupil progress to provide feedback to pupils and adapt teaching strategies; manageeffectively a variety of kinds of class organisation; create a purposeful and orderly working environment; show awareness of and respond to pupil's individual needs; create effective working relationships with colleagues; demonstrate understanding of whole school issues and of the wider educational context; demonstrate the role of the teacher in promoting pupils' personal, social and moral development; show an ability to be self-critical and flexible in approach; show appropriate personal and professional qualities of commitment, self-management and general attitude.
