Format: Campus

Program Description:

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages MA Aims of the course The MA TESOL is aimed at teachers of English, recently qualified or with limited experience, who want to develop their careers. The course offers you opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of the language classroom through encouraging reflection on what it means to both teach and learn a language. There is a strong focus on intercultural issues, which are particularly relevant to language, communication and education, and a grounding in core areas such as linguistics, sociolinguistics and second language learning and teaching. Students gain new ways of thinking and talking about language, language teaching and classroom practice in the increasingly globalised world. Entry requirements Minimum entry requirements are usually a good Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as English or another language, education, linguistics etc. Applicants must be qualified teachers and have some language teaching experience beyond that included in a training programme. Applications which do not meet these criteria may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
