Program Description:

Aims of the course The course provides a multidisciplinary learning environment in which to study health and social care services management. The overall aim is to develop effective managers: people who are able to engage with policy, clarify strategic goals, implement, manage and monitor good practice, and manage themselves and others in the pursuit of excellence in a multidisciplinary context. It begins by enabling you to be analytical of your own and others' behaviour in relation to management processes, focusing on your capacity to manage your own time, priorities and development, as well as the performance of others. You will be provided with learning opportunities, which examine areas such as strategy development, the management of change and risk management. You will examine methods to evaluate performance, quality and risk, and will be offered a structured set of options to review management issues that are specific to the policy areas of your own service, including healthcare, social welfare, community care, and children and families. Career opportunities This professional qualification will enhance the career prospects of those working in health and social care policy and management. Graduates of the course may also progress to further related study.
