Diploma - Technical Textiles, M.Sc.- Technical Textiles
Technical Textiles is one of the major growth areas in the textile industry. Textiles are used for functional applications in industry and engineering, medical applications and sport and leisure activities. Working closely with industry, the School and the University of Leeds have developed this new and unique postgraduate course in Technical Textiles. The program is open to graduates with a degree in science, applied science, engineering or materials technology. The aim of the course is to give students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and research within technical textiles. Students examine the application of this knowledge to the specific needs of industries involved in manufacturing and applying technical textiles. Through visits to companies, students will acquire first-hand knowledge of production and management in the industry. The course is flexible offering both full-time and part-time study. The taughtprogram is divided into two semesters - the first is at Leeds University and the second at the School. A substantial part of the final mark is based on a research project which is chosen at the beginning of the second semester with the help of an academic supervisor.
