Engineering and Physical Sciences - Graduate School
Construction Management (Project Management)
M.Sc.- Construction Management (Project Management), Diploma - Construction Management (Project Management)
The course has a long pedigree and is now one of, if not, the largest MSc Construction Management (Project Management) programmes in the UK in terms of student numbers. It is one of only five such courses in the UK to operate within a built environment department awarded a Grade 5 in the 1996 UK Research Assessment Exercise. The course receives direct funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) receiving a record 10 EPSRC Advanced Course Studentships for the 1999/2000 session. This is a direct measure of the value of our graduates to the construction industry. Over the years the course has evolved with elective streams and options added or phased out in line with the changing demands of the industry. The course team continues to develop its strong links with the construction industry and employer feedback is central to the course development process. Module content is reviewed and developed each year. The project management module syllabus, for example, reflects the latest thinking in this area including BS6079, earned value analysis and total quality management techniques.
