Program Description:

Postgraduate Diploma in International Hospitality and Design Management SHMS’s Postgraduate Diploma in International Hospitality & Design Management has been designed to provide students with a broad understanding of the international hospitality and an introduction to the concepts of hotel design. The programme has two main areas of focus, hospitality management and design. Courses in hospitality management focus on the daily operations within a hotel or concierge service and the decision-making processes that lead to effective management. Design management includes elements of web design, interior design and, facilities design and management, encouraging students to consider the combination of function and style. The course is particularly useful for those who have already obtained a university level qualification within another discipline and intend to enter the hospitality industry. It is equally relevant for those who have significant industry experience and need an internationally recognised qualification to advance to the next level of their career. Programme Structure During the 5-month academic semester, subjects are delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars and industry-based case study projects. The programme is completed with a four to six month optional internship, or a 12 to 18 month management trainee programme, depending on previous experience. The SHMS internship office arranges these placements and the internship period provides a valuable insight into how businesses function. After successful completion of the programme, students will receive a Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality & Design Management. Graduates may be eligible to continue on to a Master’s level programme at one of our SEG partner institutions.
