Canterbury's programmes in Engineering are ranked first in New Zealand (The NZ Government's Tertiary Education Commission's latest Performance Based Research Fund quality assessment). UC's mechanical engineering department has an establishment of 20 full time academic staff, 15 technicians, three secretaries and a systems analyst/programmer. The department is home to a variety of specialist laboratories that enable the study of acoustics, applied mechanics, automotive, hydraulic power, industrial aerodynamic, material and metallurgy, computer numerical control, metrology, control and robotics, thermodynamics and heat transfer.
Please note that international students only pay domestic fees for study at PhD level.
