UC's School of Fine Arts provides a stimulating environment that will allow you to flourish as an artist. The first art school in New Zealand, the School of Fine Arts is one of the oldest in the English-speaking world. School of Fine Arts staff are a highly qualified and experienced community of artists, designers, art historians and art theorists of international standing. You will work in purpose-built studios, workrooms and darkrooms, and have access to the School of Fine Arts Gallery on campus and the SOFA Gallery at the Arts Centre. See also our entry for Art History and Theory for details of research in Fine Arts at Canterbury - international students only pay domestic fees for study at PhD level.
