The main focus of EPCEM is to prepare its students for a profession in the environmental field. In order to train students in a practical, problem orientated manner the program consists of training in both knowledge and skills for the solution of environmental problems. The course consists of three modules of theoretical preparation and skills training. Followed by two modules providing practical experience by means of a interdisciplinary research project and an internship in either the Netherlands or abroad. The total duration of the course is ten months.
The program aims to expand environmental expertise in Europe and to strengthen international co-operation in the environmental field. This top-level course (sponsored by the Dutch government and the EU) is the result of the colloboration of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, University of Amsterdam, Leiden University, Wageningen University, Ecole de Mines de Paris and the University of Debrecen.
