The PhD program in Logic is one of the most prestigious in the world. The training takes place at the well known Institute for Logic, Language and Computation, whose research focuses on the interdisciplinary use logic, and its applications in fields such as Linguistics, Philosophy, Computer Science, and Mathematics. The educational program requires course work, seminars, colloquia and a visit to a summer school. ILLC organises this part of the PhD program in co-operation with the Dutch Graduate School in Logic. The main part of the program is the writing of a thesis on original research carried out by the student under the supervision of two dissertation supervisors. The student takes part in current ILLC research projects and has all the advantages of this flourishing scientific community. The emphasis in the PhD program lies on teaching the student to become an independent researcher. Graduates occupy key positions in academic and industrial environments.
