The program provides the student with a broad specialist knowledge and analytical insight into the field of General and Business Economics, with a strong quantitative and international orientation. After the first two years, which are spent taking General Economics, mathematical and statistical modules, the student can choose for one of the following specialisations: International Economics, Labour Economics, Public Sector Economics, Transition Economics or Experimental Economics. The teaching methods used in this course are designed to help students learn how to analyse and solve problems, how to make critical assessments and how to work in an interdisciplinary way. A work placement abroad with an international organisation is a compulsory element of this course. Students may also choose to spend a study a period abroad at one of the partner universities of the Universiteit van Amsterdam. The program is divided into two parts: the BA stage, which lasts three years, and the MA stage lasting one year.
