Degrees Offered:

Biodiversity / Systematic and Evolutionary Biology

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The management and sustainable use of natural resources is an issue of growing concern in every country. In contrast, the available expertise and capacity in biodiversity sciences is too limited to support decision-making with respect to the management of natural resources. The masters program in Biodiversity / Systematic and Evolutionary Biology has the objective to contribute to capacity building by offering a dedicated course scheme to train students in new and advanced approaches to assess biodiversity. The emphasis is on understanding the complexity of diversity in a theoretical context by analysing principles of evolution, phylogenetic relations and biogeographic distributions. Training in building interactive and multimedia expert systems, being an important approach in assessment of biodiversity, is part of the program.
