The Path to a better future is right in front of you
PLANET Europe is a joint Master's Programme of Radboud University, Blekinge Institute of Technology and Cardiff University that prepares graduates for a career in strategic spatial planning in Europe, and is designed for students who would like to better understand the influences of the European Union and international developments on space, the environment and the economy and who would like to address large-scale spatial challenges such as climate change or transnational river management in their future careers.
The programme allows a specialization on either European spatial planning and sustainable development or on European spatial planning and regional economic development and leads to an internationally-recognized double degree (MSc) from leading European planning schools.
In both specializations all students start with a comprehensive introduction on the European dimension of spatial planning and the spatial impacts of EU policies in semester 1 at Radboud University in The Netherlands. In semester 2 students either continue at Cardiff University in Cardiff on sustainable development in policy and practice, or they continue at BTH in Karlskrona with a semester on innovation and cohesion in the EU.
In semester 3, students apply their knowledge to planning practice and receive further training on cross-national communication and presentation skills. Students complete their studies with an individual Master’s thesis on a topic of their choice under joint supervision from experts from two of the universities. Depending on the choice of track, students stay at Nijmegen, Cardiff, and Karlskrona during the last two semesters.
