Program Description:

LL.M. programme in European Law is primarily designed for students who wish to develop their understanding and knowledge of European Union law with the intent of pursuing a legal career with a strong international dimension. This Master's offers a thorough education in European law, including competition law, immigration law, external relations law, judicial protection, and public international law. Students receive a sound basis for an international legal career.

A student of the Master's programme of European Law benefits from the extensive experience and expertise of our academic staff. About twenty years ago, the Faculty of Law of Radboud University was the first in the Netherlands to start a European Law programme. During the past decades the Faculty has built an international reputation in the field of European (competition) law, immigration law, and private law. Its approach to teaching is small-scale, personal, and interactive. Master’s students have close contact with both lecturers and fellow students, as classes are deliberately kept small. The Faculty of Law at Radboud University is rated number one in the Netherlands for student satisfaction.

The Faculty of Law has a truly international orientation and is part of a large network that includes more than fifty universities in Europe, the United States and Australia. All staff and students speak English.

The Master’s programme in European Law at Radboud University is unique in that it not only provides a thorough understanding of European law in general, but also offers further specialisation. After completing the compulsory courses you can specialise in one of five tracks: International and European Law Advanced; Human Rights and Migration; Business Law; Insolvency Law, and European Law and Global Affairs. 

The Master’s programme European Law provides an excellent basis for an international legal career. Graduates are able to work all over the world as lawyers with international law firms, national governments, European institutions and agencies, universities, multinationals and NGOs.

A completed Bachelor's degree in European Law or a related area. Fluency in English, both written and spoken is required. Non-native speakers of English without a Dutch Bachelor’s degree or VWO diploma need a proof of English proficiency.
