The Path to a better future is right in front of you
The Chemistry Master's programme is <em>closely related to the research of the institute for Molecules and Materials (IMM) and the research is at the interface between chemistry, biology and physics.
There is a major research project during an internship, a minor research project based on an internship in Nijmegen or anywhere in the world. Time is also scheduled for theory with basic and advanced courses related to the major subject, philosophy and elective courses.
Our Faculty of Science has unique facilities and equipment for investigating the properties of materials and molecules. The High Field Magnet Laboratory (HFML) attracts scientists from all over the world to Nijmegen. In addition, we have the NanoLab, the NMR Lab and the Laser Lab. Our newest acquisition is a Free Electron Laser which we have been able to build thanks to funding of 23 million euros from the Dutch government. Also, this Nijmegen Centre for Advanced Spectrometry draws top international researchers to Nijmegen.
Most of our graduates take up a PhD position, either in Nijmegen or elsewhere in the world. Our research institutes have many vacancies for PhD projects every year. Our graduates also find work as researchers and managers in industry, in business and in research institutes.
This programme was rated ‘Best Master's Programme’ by Elsevier magazine’s annual survey of the best degree programmes. For the third time in a row, this programme was rated number one in the category Chemistry in the Netherlands by the Keuzegids Masters 2015 (Guide to Master's programmes)
