Program Information

Degrees Offered:

Biology

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The programme consists of specialisation courses, philosophy course, elective courses and two research internships where, for each of them, students select a research group and they will be allocated to a supervisor. Choice of specialisation and subject choices under the guidance of a personal tutor, so that this will effectively support the research students want to carry out in their internships.

Training is closely linked to on-going research within the Institute for Water and Wetlands Research, the Institute of Neuroscience and the Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences. Radboud’s biologists are experts in plant and animal ecology, microbiology, the development of plants and neurobiology. This is reflected both in the many publications that appear in top journals and the number of national and international subsidies allocated to them.

This programme offers you many opportunities to follow your own interests under the guidance of a personal tutor. At the beginning of your training you will choose which of the two main subject areas you wish to follow: Water & Wetlands or Neurobiology. Each time you start a research internship you will select a research group and be allocated a supervisor. Your second research internship may either be carried out at another university in the Netherlands, abroad or in a company. Here our wide international research network can be of great benefit.

The programme offers six specialisations:

Adaptive organisms

Communities and Ecosystems

Microbiology

Water and Environment

Double Degree programme in Transnational ecosystem-based Water Management

Science in Society

Science, Management and Innovation

International Student Requirements:

When you have a Bachelor’s degree from a university of professional education you are not admitted straight away. Most of the time you need to follow a special transition programme (schakelprogramma) to improve your knowledge of the scientific field before you can gain admission to a Master’s programme. Fluency in English, both written and spoken is required. Non-native speakers of English without a Dutch Bachelor’s degree or VWO diploma need a proof of English proficiency.
